At Ashford & St Peter’s we are proud of our hospitals, our staff and the quality of the care we provide to our patients.

We believe we are in a good position to meet the challenges facing the NHS based on our strong quality of care and financial performance, and our inclusive approach to working across our local health economy. This is an exciting time to join the Board at Ashford and St Peter’s as we seek to reinforce our position as the major emergency centre to the people of Surrey and to realise opportunities to diversify our service portfolio by strengthening our position as an anchor organisation within Surrey.

Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust operates across two hospital sites in Surrey, with our 3,800 staff providing services to a population of over 410,000 living in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond.

At this critical stage in our development, we are seeking a talented and highly motivated Non-Executive Director to join the Board who has worked at a senior leadership level in a large, complex organisation or across a number of organisations, able to make a valuable contribution to the strategic direction and future success of Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals. You should have a strong commitment to the principles of the NHS and provide strategic direction, governance, leadership and challenge at the Board of Directors.

We are actively seeking an individual with a substantial clinical background and strong leadership experience in public, private or voluntary sector. We particularly welcome applications from female, black and ethnic minority or disabled candidates to strengthen the diversity of our Board.

Your role will be to ensure that the Trust fulfils its statutory and legislative responsibilities, whilst always prioritising a commitment to excellent patient care. You will utilise your professional skills and perspective and add value to the governance and strategic development of the Trust, holding senior managers to account and offering collaborative challenge and advice. You are likely to have close links with our catchment area and will be committed to making a difference to the way care is delivered to patients.
