Our Together We Care strategy 2026-2029 sets out how we will continue to improve care for our patients, support our people and work with our partners over the next three years.
It describes our priorities and, most importantly, how we will deliver against our ambitions for our patients, communities and staff. It provides a clear framework for the work we do every day and shows how, by working together, we will achieve better outcomes and experiences for the people we serve.
Our ambition is to deliver safe, high-quality, compassionate care while improving access, experience and sustainability. We also want to be a great place to work, where our staff feel valued, supported and able to develop.
This strategy is not just a document. It builds on the progress we have already made and strengthens our focus on continuous improvement. It will guide how we make decisions, prioritise our work and improve services every day.
It has been developed in through meaningful engagement with more than 1,500 staff, patients, carers, members of the public and partners. The feedback we received has helped us to understand what matters most, including the importance of safe care, shorter waits, good communication and joined-up services.
What we heard has shaped our priorities and strengthened our commitment to listening and improving. We will continue to involve patients, communities and staff in shaping our services.

How we will deliver our vision
Our strategy translates our ambition into a clear and practical approach for improvement. At the centre of this are our five True North objectives, which provide clear priorities for the organisation. They ensure we stay focused on what matters most for patients, staff and communities.
Our True North objectives are:
- Harm free care: providing safe, high-quality care with excellent outcomes and experience
- Valued people: ensuring our staff feel supported, respected and able to develop
- Timely care: delivering the right care, in the right place, at the right time
- Value and sustainability: making the best use of resources to ensure services can continue in the future
- Positive partnerships: working with partners to improve health and reduce inequalities
These objectives give us a shared direction and help focus our efforts on what will make the biggest difference.
How we will make improvements
We will deliver our strategy through a focused and structured approach to continuous improvement.
This includes learning from data and feedback, listening to staff, patients and partners, as week as making regular, practical improvements to services.
We will also:
- set annual breakthrough objectives, focusing on a small number of priorities where we can make the biggest difference
- deliver improvement and change programmes to support better clinical and operational services
Working together
We know we cannot meet future demand alone. Working with our partners is essential.
We will continue to work closely with primary care services, community health and care providers, local authorities, as well as voluntary and community organisations.
By working together, we will improve access to services, deliver more care closer to home, reduce health inequalities, and support people to live healthier lives.

Our trust strategy is underpinned by a comprehensive suite of enabling strategies and plans that ensure we have the right foundations in place to deliver our long‑term ambitions.
