Accident and Emergency

About the Department

We provide a 24 hour Accident and Emergency Service at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey. This covers all major specialties and includes 24 hour cardio-pulmonary and major trauma resuscitation. The Emergency Department Lead Consultant is Mr Sriram Thillainayagam.

The department has its own x-ray facilities, a counselling service, trauma team, and a dedicated paediatric A&E service (located in the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre next to the Rowley Bristow Orthopaedic Unit).

COVID-19 Visiting Restrictions

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, visitors are not permitted in the Adult Emergency Department unless in exceptional circumstances agreed by the Senior Charge Nurse.

Ashford Walk-in Centre

Please note that the service at St Peter's is for emergency treatment only. There is no A&E on our sister site at Ashford Hospital.

There is a walk-in centre at Ashford that is dedicated to non-urgent care and treatment.

Coming into Hospital as an Emergency Patient

We encourage all patients to Choose Well in relation to their appropriate care. Hospital services are usually busy and there may be a more suitable treatment pathway for you. Choosing well helps us treat patients faster and takes pressure off key clinical areas.
