2023 Staff Achievement Awards
The Staff Achievement awards took place at the Hilton Hotel in Cobham on Wednesday 25 September to celebrate and recognise long-standing staff and the exceptional contributions and dedication of those staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond. The event was hosted by Jack Wagstaff, North West Surrey Alliance Chief Officer, while John Machin, Deputy Chair and Julie Smith, Chief Executive presented the awards to staff and volunteers. For the first time, the Trust introduced the Partnership Across the Alliance award to recognise the fantastic collaborative work undertaken with our partner colleagues in support of the new integrated health model across North West Surrey. Trust Holds Second Successful Community Open Day
St Peter’s Hospital opened its doors on Saturday 15 July for the Trust’s second Community Open Day; the first one since the COVID pandemic. The day was an outstanding success with hundreds of visitors of all ages creating a fantastic atmosphere. Visitors were able to see areas of the hospital not ordinarily open to the public, including surgical theatres, staff wellbeing hub, and estates and facilities operational rooms. We’re delighted to be holding our next Community Open Day at Ashford Hospital on Saturday 25 November 10-3pm. Rad more about the Community Open Day.

Tim Spencer Award at Brooklands Innovation Academy
On 3 October 2023, the Trust presented students from across North West Surrey with the Tim Spencer award in partnership with the Bourne Education Trust at the Brooklands Innovation Academy. Local students at Bourne Education Trust schools were invited to submit a blog post on ‘How technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help the NHS improve its services for patients’.
The ASPH Clinical Education team also attended and ran a very engaging workshop for the students, focusing on their role to support colleagues by offering many opportunities for them to train in simulated clinical environments.
Allied Health Professionals Day Celebrations 2023
Colleagues from NHS Surrey Heartlands, North West Surrey Alliance and students celebrated Allied Health Professionals Day in style. The day showcased the very best of AHPs at the Trust as well as a wide range of exceptional speakers and presentations. There were inspirational talks from guest speakers in support of AHPs through innovation, student placements and preceptorships to ensure new AHPs have the best start. The highlight of the day was the impressive poster competition where our Non-Executive Director, Simon Devonshire, had the unenviable task of picking the top three winning ideas.
