A compassionate project supporting families after the death of a loved one in the Emergency Department at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals has been shortlisted for a prestigious Nursing Times Award 2026.
On Wednesday 26 August, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published the results of the 2025 National Adult Inpatient Survey. The survey gathered feedback from around 500 patients aged 16 and over who stayed in our hospital for at least one night during November last year who shared their experiences of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) is delighted to announce that its Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Workforce Planning Team has been shortlisted for Workforce Initiative of the Year and its Urology Team has been shortlisted for Acute Sector Innovation of the Year at the HSJ Awards 2026.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) aims to increase the number of babies who are exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life to 60% by 2030. Breastfeeding benefits both mother and baby, helping to protect against infections as well as longer-term conditions including obesity, diabetes, some cancers and heart disease.
Patients attending the emergency department (A&E) at St Peter's Hospital who need a blood test will soon be routinely screened for HIV as part of a national NHS programme. This is an opt-out test, meaning every blood test taken in the department will be screened for HIV, unless you tell us not to.

Evening Traffic Congestion at St Peter's
Please be aware that due to ongoing roadworks as part of the A320 improvements scheme, we are experiencing significant traffic in the evenings around our St Peter’s Hospital site. If you’re coming to the hospital to visit a loved one or leaving an appointment between 4pm to 6pm, you may experience significant delays arriving at or leaving the hospital site.
